Default 9005 conversion.

Did the 9005 conversions with silverstars as adviced by other HT members. I am pretty happy with the outcome. I think I got more than I paid for....here are some pics...let me know what you think....

Got them from Autozone...it coust roughly about 45 to 50 bucks for the pair of 9005 bulbs. When you get them, just smooth out the inside of the socket so it will bolt righ in with the 9006 plug.

Yeah you will probably get flashed by other cars since you don't have the cutoff beam like projectors do. See the link in my sig for info on the conversion.

Yup, all you have to do is scrape the inside of the bulb socket, to smooth it out so it will fit the 9006 plug.

Actually, I have never been flashed...ever....I don't think it is because I am aimed lower. I think it is because there is a cap that covers the front bulb in the enclosure of the headlight. It seems brighter in the picture, but it is really not as bright as HIDs...but significantly brighter than stock 9005s.

You mean brighter than stock 9006? Silverstar 9005 is not any brighter than plain clear 9005, just a much whiter light. I have had 9006, clear 9005, Cool Blue 9005, and Silverstar 9005 all in the low beams of my Integra at one time or another. All 60W 9005's put out the same amount of light (unless they have a heavy blue tint on them ).

Yup that is what I meant. Brighter or whiter...all the same to me.

I think I got more than I paid for....
do you mean..it was more "HID looking" than you thought? or you noticed a lot more usable ground light? most people on this board dont give a **** about light quality as long as their housing is reflecting blue/purple..

Nope, not more HID...but more useable ground light. I don't really go for that purple/blue crap, I don't think it looks good at all. What I meant by I got more than I paid for was that it was brighter than what I expected, meaning, I can see things more clearly at night.

ok good.. im sick of seeing these "look at how blue my headlights are!" threads.. like "i just spent $60 on my silverstars and wow they are purple." never mentioning the light output..

Is the beam pattern even better than a 9006? Headlight/car designers get paid the big bucks for a reason...if 9005 is soooooo much better, you'd think they'd design the headlight to use 9005 from the get-go...just some food for thought here...

I am not saying that 9005 is sooooo much better. I was simply sharing the fact that I am happy about my 9005 conversion because it illuminates the road much better at night, and I can see thing better.

Well, HIDs are a lot better too, why don't they use them. The fact is, there is alway better things, but that does not mean that they will be used. Also, there are other reasons that go into the decision on which type of bulb to use (that is why headlight engineers are paid the big bucks). Could it be that 9006 is enough for a low beam so why bother using 9006? More food for the thought....
