Default Auto to Manual swap in 99 accord

How hard is it? If the tranny turns out to be shot in my 99 accord I would much rather have a 5-speed.

Looking at used trannys on Ebay etc I found out that the 5-speeds are like $500ish and a used Auto is $1000.00 and im hesitant to put in a used auto anyway with these things, so then i am looking at like 2,000 to have this one rebuilt.. I feel like I could get that 5-speed in there for way less that 2000.00.

What do i need? I would need tranny, shifter, pedals, what about ECU?? what else i know theres probably other little **** it would need? I guess it would be smart to put a new clutch in it while its out of the car.

Getting a list together of what i need. Def need the ECU and the axles which i wasnt totally sure on before. Guess just eliminate the tranny cooler from the system thats not hard.

My biggest question is: Are the mounts for the AUTO and the MANUAL the same?? How hard is it to physically mount the tranny?

Look in the FAQ for our accord: heres the link for 6th gen swap

Btw: if you are using any non f23 trany, you will the need the matching 5spd starter

gl, im doing the same. have everyhing minues tranny, clutch, flywheel.

look at wrecking yards for all the cables etc. they pull and you pay. I got all my sheet for $270 out the door. Just take them the list of parts needed.

Check this thread, its a parts list for 5th gen, but its all the same just needed for 6th gen.

you WILL need to get NEW bolts from Honda that hold in the Flywheel. and new Thrust bearing, and the 5spd tranny mount for our car. it must be welded to chassis on pass side. must buy this mount new from Honda ($30-$50 approx)

Bullshit. Only the 5th gen needs a new trans mount welded. The auto mount in the 6th gen will work with a few washers, or you can get a 5 speed mount.

True, you can use washers i suppose. When I did mine I just wanted to be super safe with it, so I welded thing up and got the mount.

cheers

Swap it. The automatic trannys in these are garbage. I've replaced 2 in mine. So I'd swap if I were you

Well it depends on if you have the f23 or the j30 if you have the j30 then there's only one transmission you can use and it's a 6 speed out of an Acura cl type s and they're very hard to find starting at like 1,000 just for the bare trans then you'll need axles ecu the mounts will be the same for trans. Very very hard trans swap. I've looked into it myself
