The wipers are going too far in both directions. Seems to happening more when the windshield wipers are operating at higher speeds. Could this be a linkage problem. If so, How difficult are they to replace.

the bolts that hold them to the motor may be loose check those first hope this helps you

 

I have an '06 Honda Accord with the wiper blades going too far in both directions also. Worse on high. Tried tightening the nuts where they attach to the motor but no help. Any ideas?

Yes the bushings for the wiper transmission rods a or b could have failed. I would buy both since you are there anyway. Fairly common problem with honda in general. A weekend warrior could replace those in about an hour. Just pay attention to disassembly which rod goes where and which end was where. There is a flattened part of the rod that helps with this.
