im about to purchase some headers from drew can anyone give me step bby step instructions on how to install some headers my car is a 1996 accord ex auto sedan

 

This will be the same on all F22 '94-'97 cars.
It's fairly simple. You will need to get the car high enough to work underneath it. Support it securely with jacks stands, but it would be better if you use ramps. Let the engine cool down so as to work on the exhaust. Use a good penetrating lubricant on the exhaust bolts. I prefer PB blaster.

Look over these two diagrams.
System Name\Component : EXHAUST PIPE (1) System Name\Component : EXHAUST MANIFOLD (2)

Removal of exhaust manifold/downpipe
Under car.
-Remove the two spring loaded bolts between #8 down pipe 'A' and #7 'middle' pipe that the O2 screws into.
-Remove the three nuts from #8 down pipe 'A' and exhaust manifold.
-Remove the two remaining engine to #10 stay bolts from the block. Remove #8 down pipe 'A'

Topside
-Remove the three heat shield bolts from the manifold. Remove heat shield.
-Remove manifold stay bolt
-Remove the eight manifold self locking nuts. Remove manifold.

Installation of header/down pipe.
Topside
-Install upper header onto head
-Install the eight manifold self locking nuts. Torque to spec.
-(if applicable) install manifold #1 stay and stay bolts.(some headers do NOT reuse this bracket)
-Remove #10 stay bracket from #8 downpipe 'A'
-Install #10 stay bracket onto new downpipe.

Under Car
-Install new down pipe to header. Torque to spec.
-Install #10 stay bolts to block. Torque to spec.
-Install the two spring loaded bolts between new down pipe and #7 'middle' pipe. Torque to spec.
-Recheck component install, start up car and allow to warm up.
-Check for leaks.
-Remove car from ramps/jackstands and test drive.

*reuse or purchase of gaskets may or may not be necessary, check with header manufactures recommendations.*

What other exhaust mods do you have? I am considering installing a header when my catalytic converter goes. I'll probably change my oil pan then too (dented). I have a pretty new stock exhaust. I need find out if a high flow converter and header and stock exhaust are a good combo. Enough about me, Good Luck man

 

im actually gonna install header test pipe and dual tip muffler from megan racing so as soon as i install them i will let you know

 

I installed the muffler first and let me say the megan dual tip muffler is a good quality muffler it does jot sound ricey at all smooth tone and i just did the test pipe yesterday and damn the car feels soo much better and it makes the muffler sound way better and i feel the car accelerates faster too. Soo Far my 96 accord ex sedan has a ac autotechnics cold air intake ngk laser platinum plugs megan dual tip muffler and megan test pipe what else would i be able to install to get more power?

 

Its easy. Just remove any bolts you see that interferre with the header+downpipe. Make sure to de-torque the header from the head so you don't distort it.

 

just saying if you dont know that the test pipe is going to make your car throw a code

 

I actually installed a defouler so no code or c.e.l. the whole setup i have makes the car more enjoyable to drive i never purchased the megan header i heard that the stock accord ex header flows pretty good am i wrong let me know

 

if you dont live in cali... codes usually dont matter

 

I live in cali thats why i kept my old cat so when i need to pass smog im just gonna switch it out.
