Default Qs on putting 01 ITR LSD into 94 GSR tranny.

I did a search and from what I understand it will bolt right in. Is that right? Also somebody mentioned something about bearings being different. Do I use the tapered ones or the square ones and which tranny are they from?

Also when I go to get the LSD what should I look for? How can I tell if it is an ITR LSD and can I tell if it is damaged?

TIA.

these ? are frequently asked and answered here ... the answer is yes they fit, use the carrier bearings that are in your tranny, i.e. if square use square if tapered use tapered. You can tell any LSD tranny by looking thru the axle hole, it should not have a pin going across it.

hmm are you positive cheetah? I think the newer ITR's and newer GSR's use a different axle spline and you might need new axles to match as well. Reason i say this is because i was looking at the acura carland parts pages and for early GSR's they use the same axle part number as the LS's, but the newer GSR's and ITR's (I only looked at 2001) used a different part number.

Reason I say this is because i just bought a gsr transmission for my LS and am also trying to figure this all out before i get a lsd that doesnt' work

it's not really helical vs a regular lsd. There's not really a regular lsd, just two kinds (I think, maybe more but these 2 are the only 2 I see discussed for hondas). The ITR is a helical lsd (gear driven) and the other kind is a clutch-type lsd like the Kaaz. The quaiffe is a helical lsd also. The Kaaz lsd is more aggressive and you can choose how much lock up you want, but it also needs to be rebuilt after so many miles while the quaiffe and the ITR don't need to be. Hope that helps.

positive ... I've interchanged many 2001 trannys with the older axles. B-series ends are the same, just the lengths of the axles change and cannot be used interchagebly, etc.
