!!! my weekend @ Grand-a cup @ Mt. Tremblant !!!
well i passed friday and saturday there from 6 am to 6 pm ...
It was really interesting, gained alot of experience and knowledge...
budget wasn't there and we unfortunatly didn't finish the 3 hours race because of a stupid shifter bushing that just felt off ( melted )
I was sponsoring/working on the BRT team , Integra type R 98 running in STII class against Kingmotorsports type R and Keymotorsports 02 Tiburons ( 1 of them didn't finish i think )
I was responsible for all suspension tunnning ( toe, camber, tires pressures, spring and shocks settings, ride height, suspension bushings ( from my copmany soon to be avaible ) ablbab )
Took me some time to get the pressures right on the grand am R Hoosiers
( temp and use was perfect on the first set we used 1h 15min on the race! so i was kinda proud
ehhe )
we had to give a lot more camber than we though for the car to use the tires properly, even with kinda stiff springs ( though the track is really bumb free cause it's brand new )
after getting 5 secs off our first times with adjustments we were still lagging 4-5 secs behind the firsts of our class .. but hey!
they all had like 8 races already to tune the car, our car was only ready this week and we didn't have even 1 chance to test the car with the current shocks/springs before friday ( kinda last minute thing..neway )
So i think taht our team is pretty proud of what we've done with the ridiculously low budgset and the small amount of time we had to make the car fast ( we still missing lots of power VS competitors )
few things i learned from running with the pros ..
-IT TAKE TONS OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-they probably had somthing like +50 000$ USD of budget for this week end
and that's for the medium teams ..
-Hoosiers are stupidly expensive ( some teams used like 3 sets @ 200$USD each tire for 1 car during the week end and they had like 3 cars running ehhe )
-you don't need to have a 100K$ USD car + a big trailer to be competitive in grand am cup
and that's pretty coool thing!
in all this weekend race was very expensive for everybody ( including me and i am kinda poor right now .. eheh ) but it was a blaast!!
if you guys have a chance( even if its not the same ) to work on a team as a replacement crew or something, do it! it's a really nice experience!

anyone went to watch the race ?
( grand am cup i mean...not the rollex series wich were on sunday and passed at speed in direct i think )

I was racing the #05 Miata with Caduceus Motosport. Our #5 car finished second. This was my first Grand-Am Cup race & it was a blast. Only forced off the track 3 times. The Type R's & Tiburons run in the STI class.
yes sorry we were in ST1 ( ehehe my bad
)
cool! i think i remember cleary you guys, didn't see you the drivers though...
( let's hope we didn't look TOOO new ? ahha
)
what kind of budget are they running on in ur team ?
just to have an approximate idea!

Tremblant is close nough to me to race at. Only about 7 hours. maybe ill show next year to watch. Any word on the ECHC coming to Mosport or Tremblant?
yes the track was really nice!!!
i didn't do it fast though
eheh
they really revamped all the bad spots and it seems to be really smooth all around!
with some nice ( weird looking ) hill passage and some really fast long curves!
It would be really really cool if ECHC would be to come in Canada at Tremblant and Mosport!!!
i hope i can manage to make my race car this winter and attend some of the ECHC races
