Painting Polyurethane?
Hey Guys,
Just got my polyurethane lip to replace the one that got destroyed in a snow storm. The previous one was painted by the guy who painted my car and since I am low on cash I plan to do it myself.
I have roughly 2 inches left of reduced paint in a gallon can to paint the lip.
To prep the lip I am going to degrease it w/ Simple Green and then Dawn.
I will then scuff it with a grey or red 3M scuff pad.
Now, can I use the Dupli-Color rattle can primer found at Advanced Auto? Then paint it and then use rattle can 3M clearcoat?
Any tips would be great.

I think the adhesive promotor for plastic would help. I did a decent job my first time painting my lip but when I put blue painters tape on and took it off...the paint came w/ it
but the primer was still intact pretty good.
I would also like to hear some tips so I'll know how to do it the correct way for when I re due mine

for poly urthrane u need some really nice primer and u need to add some type of urthrane mixer in the paint so that when it bends it wont chip the paint off. the first time i had my frend paint my car he did do that and first day i drove on the highway my paint from my front bumper just peeled off.
I have been talking to a few guys and I guess I need to apply adhesion promoter first.
A buddy is going to help me out that actually has automotive, adhesion promoter and primer. On my first lip my friend just used the paint that he painted my car, no additives and it flexed just fine.
