auto tranny burnout questions
my buddy just bought a pos 97 accord coupe and hes been wondering whats better neutral to "1" gear or coasting back then slamming the gas no matter what hes going todo it but i was riding with him today and he was asking which is less wear or less chance of hurting the tranny so i told him coasting back then slamming the gas would probally be better but idk much about auto trannys besides the launch time on them is horrible...thanks in advance
yea but try telling that to a 16 yo that just got there very first honda and found it was a automatic thats like wishing for a new game console for chirtmas and getting a bag of flaming dog poo instead no matter what hes gonna do one or the other everyone burns out when they first drive by themselfs so which will make his tranny last a little longer its pos its rusted it knocks rpm gauge dont work radio was stolen out of it etc so which is better
I got my accord when I turned 16. never done a burnout.
honestly, the only way your going to do a burnout in a automatic is if its wet or gravel. to little torque.
i say neutral bomb it.

okay but he did do a burnout going backwards then shifting into 1 and burning out after the gears had a chance to catch up then it went but if i bet ur accord was nice and and u didnt live in a back water town where all there is to do is race get laid get high then go race some more

The best burnout I could get with my 94 auto was a 3-4,000rev (rolling backwards helps) drop from neutral to D3. Roll backwards, rev high, slap to D3, floor it, button and push to 1st , the response is actually pretty quick and harsh. As soon as it starts to spin, shift to 1st to keep it from up-shifting. If your on wet pavement and a hill you can shift to 2nd when you max 1st. All of this will be one wheel of course. I did this well over 50 times from redline with a stock, original, 120k mile engine and transmission. They are really strong but will obviously wear out eventually. Haha I'm glad you asked this, brings back memories.

It's a good commuter car. Don't trash the transmission attempting to do a burnout. I can't wait to see the thread
"Yo dawgs my bro was doin burnoutz in his auto 'cord and now is don't wurk"
Your friend is a retard, and you are a retard for supporting him. I'm going to wager he didn't buy the car himself either and isn't paying the insurance. Don't break what you don't own.
Last time this happened? I and the rest of GDD royally ****ed WhiteVenom from the Mustang forums (nos on his mustang then tried having mommy/daddy pay for it)
well he wont be doing burnouts long after this thats fo sure. trans will be in pieces but if he has to do it revving up in neutral and then drop it into gear it will burn

On that note, if he keeps neutral 'bombing' the trans he will destroy it. There is a component inside the torque converter that is a one way clutch called a sprag. High shock loads such as neutral drops will grenade it. His torque converter will then become a (strictly)fluid coupling, with shrapnel dispersing qualities.
