ok so i just picked up a 97 civic cx with a hacky d16z6 swap. im about to do a complete obd2b b18b1 swap outa an 01 teg ls. basically i wanna get a new wiring harness for the cx before i swap cause the harness on it now is cut up and i really dont wanna deal with it. so i was thinking i need a 96-98 d16y7 5 speed harness, cause i dont need vtec wiring..is that the correct harness i need. also is there any other wiring mods i need to do going from obd2a to obd2b?? could i use the 01 teg ecu? cause i heard something about not being able to do that cause anti theft or something like that..sorry for the q's,,i just wanna get this straight b4 i yank this motor.

I believe the 01 ecu's have an immobilizer that only reads a certain key. You would have to rewire around that. And I am doing the same swap in a 2000 ek and im using the y7 harness. Someone correct me if im wrong about the info.

 

yes use the harness thats in the car. the y7 harness willl work fine. you may need to swap some sensors around but it will work. chipped p28 and conversion harness is what i would plan to use for this swap

 

could i use an obd1 chipped p28 ecu and still use the obd2 dizzy, injectors, and alternator? or would i need to switch all those to obd1 also..

 

nope you can use all those obd2 things and be fine. just use a p28 chipped with a conversion harness and your good to go.

from what i know in our yr civics all b and d series share the same mounts
