Ok i built a b20/vtec and i have it in the car and have already cranked it. I went back to double check everything one of which is the timing. I have not installed the harmonic balance yet therefore i put the bolt into the crankshaft and started to spin in to check if it was in time. I noticed the timing belt did not spin at all (crankshaft spun but the pulley that the timing belt goes on did not spin). So i knocked it out of time, i put it back in time by lining up the groves frim the pulley to the grove on the actual end of the shaft. Now that its back in time i put the harmonic balance on and when i spin the bolt the whole timing belt spins correctly and in time. My question is what keeps it from spinning out of time? Am i missing a locking key or anything?
