Default ALL M0T0R's 2nd build thread

Most of you know or read my last b20vtec build thread in my integra.. well, since then i've swapped the motor over to a EG .. the girlfriend and I had done some work to get the car in good condition.. but i thought i'd go alittle more in depth on the build thread.
Since i'm redoing the bottem end with some new bearings and the motors out, i figured go into depth about it.. Showing how i did the harness, ran wires, and etc etc..

I aquired this 92 CX EG through a trade, shell for shell...was in horrible shape when i got it.

Here's how it looked the day i aquired it..

Ya, go 4X4..
Got it home and started to do some work the day of..

Interior shots -

Engine bay shots -

After 2 FULL days of cleaning.. sanding, prep work.. here's what i came out with..

Interior -

Engine bay shots -

I've tore down the motor and what not. The head and manifold are getting some more work done, the manifold is getting fully ported and i'm getting some new valves since my ferreas aren't able to handle another build again.
I'll post some pics of the clutch split in half and what not, how it looks now..
Upcoming projects this week:
a) Redo the wire tuck again, with some kelver coverings
b) clean the tranny, repaint possiblely.
c) install entergy inserts on mounts and possible other areas.
I'll post some more later.

The difference is amazing between where I live and down there. A car in rough shape down there, has dents, dirt, and crappy paint. Here it has all the same things and RUST....tons of it and the shell is usually to soft to do anything with it unless you want to spend lots of time cutting out old metal and welding in new stuff. Looks good so far though.

I remember awhile back you mentioned something about a clutch going out on you as well. Oil pump and clutch, is the bottom end out of balance? What crank pulley where you using?
Is the bottom end getting balance this time?
Just a thought. Good luck on your build.

Looks rough but fun at the same time. What are you going to do about side moldings?

Well, the motor did 110mph trap in a full interior GSR on heavy roto knock offs
Thats roughly 2700lbs with me in it..

I switched to a CX eg, the lightest eg made, which roughly stands at 2180lbs..

Staying all motor i gotta start thinking power to weight ratio as well..thats all.No ps, it will have ac tho.

Here's some pics of the clutch i was talking about, i'm currently in talks with actionclutch to get a replacement..

Actionclutch said they might even send me a free replacement considering its not even been 10 months.
I believe when the clutch started going out, it was my vibration problem.. this could have had something to do with the bearings or it might not have.. i wont know for sure.. but i do know that, its a good clutch and good people.

Those pads look pretty toasted, id consider a different clutch. I beat the **** out of all my ACT clutchs and they never looked like that, even on a boosted swap

What pressure plate is that?

its all action clutch

Actionclutch.com i got the stage 7 six puck unsprung clutch

This is the same clutch bisi runs.. i went with it per rocket's advice as I've ran ACT/Comp and excedy and to no Advil have i found a good clutch..
I dont think it lasted quite as long as it should have.. but there's no excuse for the pressure plate actually separating itself.

I didn't even realize it a springless, that might be your problem, gotta be carefull with those. Not questioning your driving experience but I seen a lot of rookies fukcin their whole setup up poppin clutch around town with a unsprung

When it was balanced was the flywheel and crank pulley on it?
A solid build, balanced, well maintained engine shouldn't be destroying clutches and oil pumps. Just wondering if there is something else lurking as a true problem of you bearing troubles. How many miles on the block? I know you run it hard but you also maintain you engine.

I'm pretty sure Hondas are internally balanced. No need for the flywheel and damper.

I agree, though. I'm not convinced the oil pump was to blame.

LSV isn't reliable for a daily driver? where on earth did you hear that? I suppose you could have heard it from all the morons that slap cheap part combinations, that are poorly selected together and then try to run it off a stock ecu or a basemap, blow them up and then tell everybody online how unreliable they are.

X2, my last LSV (190whp) had over 18,000 miles on it and a majority of those miles were full throttle. A retainer that probably had over 100,000 miles on it broke and dropped a valve, but luckily the motor was stopped before any real damage occurred. LSV's are a great choice for DD's!
