Default 02 Accord Oil Leak

'02 Accord V6 Vtec 3.0 motor 60k miles. Just recently noticed the bottom of the transmission was covered in oil. Drivers side. The only place I notice oil is at the rear of the transmission where a line enters. Not seeing anything from the top half of the motor. Fluids all look good. The oil pan, filter and plug are dry. Here is a picture where I am seeing the oil the most.

I cannot tell from your description, but is that the side with the tranny, or the belts?

Oil can oftentimes leak from one side, but drip from another place far away.

How much is it leaking?

Does it leak when running, sitting, or both? Wipe it down after driving so that you don't have any previously-leaked oil finish dripping out once you park it. You should be able to track it back to a source if you don't drive it and just let it idle - the wind can blow it everywhere making it impossible to find the source.

Is the fluid ATF or is it oil? If it is oil, you could have a rear main seal leaking. If the fluid is AFT the shift shaft seal could be leaking. From that picture, it is really hard to tell.

I like Ultra-Violet dye when tracking down leaks.

Most likely its a rear seal. It's oil, not tranny fluid. ****.

You might want to put some UV dye in the engine oil. It might help you to find the source before ripping the trans out. There is a possibility the leak is not the seal.

I had a simliar problem but it was just beacuse i used fully synthetic oil and it started leaking from the rear main seal, after a while it stopped leaking. sound familiar? or are you using conventional?

I switched to Castrol Edge a few months ago and realized I was passing oil into my spark plug threads. Switched to Castrol High Mileage from GTX which is what I previously used and the leak was immediately gone. I was also leaking oil past the rear main as well and that stopped too. The high mileage is best when you have over 100k imo.
