Montana?
Alright, well, I'm new to the community, so here we go.
I have a 1996 Honda Accord LS 4Door, teal in color, 5 spd manual, with nothing but a cold air intake as an add-on.
I wrecked the car about 3 years ago, rear ended someone, I repaired it to running conditions (only missing paint/grille/air conditioner) otherwise everything worked fine.
One day I was driving to work and I made a turn and I heard a huge BANG... I slowed, but didn't see anything behind me, and the car seemed to be still running okay. So I kept driving (highway).
As I got down the road about5 more miles, my RPM's jumped up as if I slipped out of gear, so I slowed down and threw it in 4th and let the clutch out and tried going, RPM's but no MPH...
Now it sits under a shed (runs fine) but wont' move. I assume Transmission, but I'm un-sure. I'mg etting it checked on Friday.
However, after that is established I'm afraid my engine will go soon (200,000miles) so, I came here in hopes I could find some information that is useful.
I live in Billings, MT and I'm looking for someone, or someone that knows someone, who can do a motor swap, for a reasonable price. it's a 96, and it's not running now so i'm not looking to drop THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS.. but I want to know what I am looking at.. The Transmission will be done, by someone else, if it is what's wrong. Will I need to get a new transmission with the new motor? I'd like to get a k20 if at all possible, but not necessary.
So, my real question is, does anybody about there know of anyone in billings area that can do the motor swap for a reasonable price? Im talking, finding the motor, and installing it, getting it running and up to par again. I'm looking to get a personal loan to take care of it, but I need to know what I'm looking at price wise before I go ask for a loan.
Thanks for any replies or info, it's appreciated greatly.

I figured 200k was nothing, hence the want to repair it once again.
I haven't, I'm not that mechanically savvy, but the CV joints were replaced a year or so earlier, I suppose they could have been damaged from the accident and then broke once again... That would be fabulous if it was just that! That's only $600+ But, I still want to do a k20-k24 motor swap, just because I want to make it worth the repair, I'm afraid (as hard as I've ran this car) the motor will die sooner than it should.
How do I know if it's the cv shafts, other than popping the tire off and looking?
Thanks for the reply!

just to add to it to maybe diagnose further. I was losing quite a lot of horse power right up to it breaking, whatever it was. I mean, my torque was nearly completely gone.. but I thought it was sparkplugs (whole nother issue, I have oil sitting on top of the plugs all the time, but it doesn't affect how it runs, a few mechanics questioned how it even ran with the oil up there, but, it's a Honda, is all i could say... I've replaced the valve cover gasket, so it must be a deeper issue. Hence the other reason I want to get a new motor)
But the torque was completely lost and then obviously now it doesn't move. you can hear it grind a bit when it's in gear and it jitters ever so slightly like it's going to move, but doesn't.
The CV Joints is a great idea of something to check out.. the last time they snapped, it clicked the whole way home (most miserable 10mph 2 and a half hour drive I've ever driven) to home, and then I towed it in to get it worked on.
hmm...

That would have been nice to know before I got a $2,000 loan to pay for the fixin's for my Honda.
Thanks for the offer though. Who did your motor? I'm lookin' to see if anyone can rebuild mine, or replace the motor and transmission over-all. Everything else on the car is fine.
