what do i have here? bought out a speed shop and this was with it
im not trying to sell this here, i just want information on what i have. It's a complete honda engine minus the intake and exhaust. looks brand new inside and out. with the motor upside down and the oil pan removed you can see the honing marks on the cylinder walls. the pistons look to be aluminum, it has a DOHC head on it. everything on the head looks brand new as well. i dont own a honda and i dont know much about them, but im trying to sell it locally and any help you guys can give me on specs/value on this motor would be greatly appreaciated. here are pics of what all number and markings i can find. block numbers, head numbers, and even the numbers on the bottoms of the connecting rods.

just what the first pic shows, it's a DOHC non-vtec F22B

youre speaking greek to me man. im not up to date on hondas.
so whats it worth and what does it fit? do the internals look stock or aftermarket?
bought out a whole speed shop inventory that went out of business. I have 20-30 brand new camshafts, hundreds of pistons, gaskets, various pumps, many heads that i have absolutely no idea what motor they go to but all loook new. since this is the only complete motor in the bunch, i figured i would start with this on my local craigslist. i just want to be able to answer anyones questions that email about it.

ill dig around and see what i can come up with on the other parts. i know i have a buttload of honda oil pumps and other small various parts like that. i wouldnt know where to start on determining the difference between a vtec and non vtec head.
i've managed to sell a few parts on ebay already. but most of those were chevy/ford V8 parts like piston sets and cams.
heres the kicker.... 2,080 Chevrolet 6.2L diesel pistons. all brand new with wrist pins individually boxed. WTF does someone need to order a stock of 2000+ pistons? no wonder their asses went out of business.

vtec and non vtec is pretty easy. google "vtec solenoid" to get an idea of where to look. this is assuming the solenoid is attached to the heads you have, if not then hopefully someone can explain where it is. but casting numbers and codes should tell us either way.
one of the most popular heads(probably the most popular) i believe is code PR3.

yeah that doesnt make any sense. except that those engines were complete garbage and maybe they went through alot of pistons. idk

For DOHC motors, look under the valve cover. If you see 3 camshaft lobes per bank of valves (intake and exhaust), it's VTEC. If you see 2 lobes per bank, something resembling a conventional layout, it's non-vtec.

Thanks, ill go check out what heads are in the mess this weekend and see if i can find a VTEC head to toss on it and see if i can get rid of the motor that way on craigslist. i dont want to shop it due to shipping costs and building a crate. It's all in a storage unit (4 actually) so i just cant walk to the garage and look around. the sooner i can identify and move this stuff, the less monthly storage expense involved.
