Why are imports here in Canada slower than cars from down South?
I was very disappointed as I was comparing imports here from the imports i have come across in Texas. Any good reason why the cars here dont have their **** together?

Hmm.. I don't know. Its too bad. Hahah. Not much competition.
I was going to come out, but I didn't have my **** together yet.. been crazy busy with everything. Unfortunatley car isn't top of the priority list
Imports in Texas are fast because everyone in Texas is rich

Its not that the people in Texas are rich we have people here that have serious dough as well. I saw a few honda's with good setups but they were not tuned right or the driver was pulling shitty 60ft times i guess its one thing to make power but on the other hand you have to know how to launch the car as well.
Mr.Eric 11.1 @130 is very nice as i saw a few 1st gen dsm's running 13's. LOL

The parts down there are everywhere, and they are much cheaper then it would be for us to get them up here.
You gotta pay to play and unfortunately people around here dont wanna do that.
Its still growing but we will always be behind our southern counterparts by a couple years.
Weather also plays a factor, when there are places that close their tracks for only a month or so out of the year, people are more inspired to keep them running the entire time. Around here, theres only maybe 6 months of decent race weather.

Simple answer, cars, and parts are cheaper in the US. It has nothing to do with who has money, and who doesn't.
I'm pretty sure if I live in a place where it doesn't snow (like texas or socal), I'd have way more done to my car.
Just did a quick comparison on a brand new Civic Si. Prices taken from honda.ca, and honda.com. Both are MSRP for the sedan. $22255 in the US, $25,880 in Ontario. If you calculate just the tax rate with those numbers. Roughly $23,600 in the US (used Texas tax rate of 6.25%). Roughly $29,200 in Ontario using the 13% hst tax rate. That's a difference of $5600. This difference does not include all other fees such as licensing, air tax, gas tax, freight, pdi.. etc. I'm not sure if they have the same charges in the US or not. With all the other additional fees. It puts the Si Sedan at roughly $30,000 canadian.
There's a lot you can do with $5600 in mods, especially in the US. Plus not everyone is buying new cars. Used cars would go for even less down there. Houses are cheaper down in the US as well. The cheaper your mortgage is, the more money you have for car mods. Almost everything is cheaper in the US. Food is even cheaper. I remember going to Mcdonald's in Chicago. It cost less than $5 to get a mcnugget combo. It cost you way more than that just get 10 mcnuggets in Canada, and you don't get a drink or fries. $5 for all 3 in Chicago. I think you get my drift by now.

your clearly a clown to have started a topic on honda-tech asking americans why canadians are slow? give your head a shake.
If you like i can give you some examples...
My buddy ran 9.6 with the same mile/hr 148. 2 years ago
don't worry about your buddies, I'd love to see your car or better yet tell him to bring his car down here....why is it when haters talk they talk about their buddies cars and not their own?
Marks doing pretty damn well for having his car out for the second season. Congrats on Win btw.

Don't worry about who I am. And don't take it personal. Im not asking Americans why Canadians are slow. 10.1 is fast but you have to admit that cars down south are faster. That's all

For example, I ran a 12.0 @ 128, 3 years ago at a track around here. They put traction compound down for a very small portion of the track. That MPH is goin 10's in the states.
well then, if you are a Canadian racer, you must know that the tracks down south are 1000x better than ours up here.

Like some people here that agree its is a bit different down there and then there are some who are taking this thread personally. Tracks, weather, cost are all of those factors i agree.
Then gentleman who ran 10.1 @ 148 mad props to you but this is a general topic not against you or your friends.
There are a few people here who do have their **** together. For example Magnus Motorsports but once again in general cars run faster times there than here that's all.
It's not like canada doesn't have fast cars... Splitfire, auto xtreme's golf hauls serious ***, Pascal Forget Civic has taken some us events. Avid's cars make it up there too.
But most parts do come through the states and we obviously get raped in exchange/duties that is life. Not to mention at the end of the day ppl ratio anywhere 5x+ stateside VS any provincen supply/demand. No one said racing is cheap but it helps getting some cuts here and there. More info out there as there are more shops/ppl racing I guess there's more serious ppl you could say.
PS Texas has the most horsepower per car per state I read that somewhere not sure if it's true tho lol the cars should be faster.
