DRAINED BATTERY, NEED HELP!
Straight to the point
After doing a swap on my eg hatch VX :
-Bought brand new starter
-Bought new battery and replaced it, but still turns over slowly, but enough to turn the car on
-Sometimes it just gives clicking sounds when i turn on the ignition, so i have to jump start it.
-Jumped the battery, took out connections, car runs, so alternator is still good.
-Observed sparks when engine is cranked by the exhaust bolt, so something must be grounding but no wires near it
also unplugged cut and spliced o2 sensor, still seems to have sparks in the same area
-Removed my engine harness and taped it up, but yet still have sparks
-Tested it with a sohc alternator but still the same.
Conclusion:
-Something must be grounding the battery, cause of spark when car cranks.
-Wiring to the alternator to the battery has bad connection (harness was not cut) so its not charging?? should i change my harness and get obd1 si harness??
Need serious help. THANKS!!!!!!!!

Clean and tighten the engine ground wires, especially the G3 transmission ground.

Also check for parasitic drain:

just get a obd1 harness and check all the grounds like RonJ@HT said
when u have sparks that mean your wires somewhere is touching the car or it can be lose ground
