5th gen Sunroof Weight
David Rierson of http://www.ntpog.org recently removed his entire sunroof assembly and converted it to a sheet metal cover to comply with SCCA IT rules. He weighed the stock moonroof assembly at a whopping 42lbs. The glass panel was 18lbs. And the frame and motor was another 24lbs. All that weight up high is in the second worst place on the car to affect handling.
I knew it added weight, but I had no idea that the assembly was that heavy. I would imagine that the 4th gen solid metal sunroof assembly is comparable in weight - maybe a few lbs lighter.
I take no credit for this info, I just happened to read David's post and found it very interesting.

Wow, thanks for that info. The sunroof was replaced by sheet metal before I bought my car and I was considering putting it back in. Now that I've read that, i'm reconsidering.
