So the wife went and started up my civic this morning and then came to get me to tell me it made a terrible grinding noise when the clutch was pressed. When I got out there I noticed the key wasn't quite in the "start" position (III) but was turned slightly passed II. The radio was off just like when starting, but I didn't hear the starter motor. When I pressed the clutch more than halfway it was grinding. Alls I had to do was put the key in the right position and it went away but I'm curious what was grinding and why? Any ideas?

 

check your starter and see if the remote wire didnt come off...and is touching the positive part. with these two touchin it will cause the starter to turn (..ie a grinding noise...)
