Default Year 2000 Or Any ITR

i am rebuilding a 2001 ITR and was wondering if i went with a Usdm year 2000 itr motor setup would that be legal. the usdm 2001 motor is hard to come by so i figure i might have to go with a jdm and change all smog emissions. thanks more imput on this matter would be awsome. i wanna get her up and running already.

Doesn't CA require the motor to be atleast the same year or newer?

i think it does BUT it's impossible to tell the difference. only generationally newer, a b18c5 could never go in an rsx for example

Yes same year or newer, but also applies to if the motor is from the same generation, then it will still pass.

For the JDM queston, if you're putting it in a integra, yes, but if you're putting a JDM in let's say an ek, then you can not get it bar'd anymore.

A general rule of thumb is that the engine needs to be equal to or newer than the year of the car your putting it in. But since your putting a B18c5 back in it shouldn't really matter. The emissions sticker thats under the hood will match up with whats on the motor. (i.e. three way cat, EVAP, 2-02S) and whatever else is equip'd. If your on the pipe sniffer as long as the motor is stock you should be fine. Just familiarize yourself with your states Emissions laws. Everyone's different even down to the counties in some states.
