strange crunching noise from engine
We bought a 1998 honda accord ex, v-tec, 4 cyl., somewhere around 200,000 miles. We drove the car last night, no problems. I started it today, and the engine is making a sort of crunching noise. I checked all fluids, fine, the car is well maintained.
Anyone have any ideas on what it could possibly be?

It's going to be hard to diagnose a crunching sound over the internet. Can you shoot a quick video of the engine running with the noise its making, and upload it to YouTube?
Can you pinpoint from where the noise is coming from? Driver side, Passenger side, closer to the passenger compartment, closer to the front of the car, up high, down low? etc etc.
Was there any recent maintenance done on the car?

i experienced this from my other car 97 accord ex vtec as well, and i heard it needed a valve adjustment, of course they r different sounds for different symptons,, like a ticking could be the lifters needing more oil, but i dnt know the true sound of this noise coming from ur car.
However, avoid apply full throttle to avoid engine damage, me, i would still go full throttle n i ended blowing the engine, idk wut it is thats wrong with it, i hear its a blown piston, or blown cylinder head, but im just going to swap it for an h22a and rebuild the f22b as a spare.
