Default Installing an aftermarket muffler - HELP

Hey guys, got referred to this site by a Honda enthusiast friend of mine.

I just went out and bought a DC sports muffler that i'd like to install on my 93 EG hatch. There were no instructions on the box and I can't really find much online. I know there's a bolt that I have to take out to get the old muffler off. Then do I just slide this one on and rebolt it in? Do I need an aftermarket bolt (needed aftermarket lugs for my rims..that's where that question came from lol)

Thanks,

Atreyu

Most mufflers are going to fit the same way. If it's made for the car you're installing it on then it should be super easy.

Jack the car up. Support the car by jackstands. NEVER get under a car supported by a jack! Jacks can fail!

You should see the stock muffler is held on by two hangers at the rear and two bolts with springs where the muffler meets with the b-pipe.

Remove the bolts with the springs at the front piping section. There should be a gasket in there (often a crush style gasket). You might need to replace this. They're only a few bucks at local parts stores though.

Pull the muffler out of it's hangers. There are little black rubber bits that attach to the muffler hangers and the hangers on the car. You'll need to keep those to install your new muffler, so pull them off and put them on the hangers of your new muffler.

Now that you have those rubber bits on your new muffler, hook it to the hangers on the car. Then bolt the front end up.

That's seriously all there is to it.

Everyone starts somewhere. None of us comes out of the womb knowing this.

A lot of stuff about cars you'll find out is you can just look at it and figure out how to disassemble and reassemble. Like Legos.

Oh, and I've seen people who know about cars crawl under cars supported by scissor jacks (that's the type most cars come with for changing tires). It's a good way to lose a leg or worse.

Even "knowledgeable" people do stupid things sometimes.

Be safe and don't do anything stupid that could hurt yourself.
