Default Building a B18C1

Hey guys,

I`m new to this forum but I reckon it`ll help me a lot.
Actually I´m from germany.... so please excuse my simple language.

In germany most people go for the ITR engine with high compression(11,1:1).
The B18C1 (in germany B18c4) is not that common.
But it seems to be quiete known around here
BTW, this is my actual honda-model: Honda Civic Aerodeck (stationwagon, 1,3tons heavy)
http://www.honda-fanzine.de/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/pm_aero_deck_1.jpg

It is my daily car and I aim to reach easily the 200.000 miles with it
So the tuning must be very reliabil!!

So far I have stock 170hp.... My goal ist somewhere around 220hp.
Header, catalyst, catback and flywheel/clutch is allready in consideration
Now I have read several thread`s in this forum and I´m not shure if I should go NA or forced induction....
Shure, second will be cheaper, but I allways read turbo`s and supercharged tuning isn`t reliabil
Or is this for 300hp + only?
What do you guys in big amerika think???
Im very interested in your opinions!!

Best wishes from northern germany,
Olaf

your gonna hear plenty of opinions.

first though....are you shooting for a 220 hp rating or 220 Whp? although you are at 170 hp, thats to the crank. and only about 130-140 in whp (wheel horsepower)

to do 220 whp NA you will probably need to do inernal (cams, pistons/higher compression, valvetrain maybe a bore and some good head work) work as well as some quality bolt-ons (intake mani, good header, ect). but it will probably last longer. or 220 to the crank just get some good cams and intake mani and header and a tune

or

throw a quality turbo kit so you dont have to open up the motor and you can make 220whp pretty easily. and for sure make 220 to the crank. turbo or supercharger can be just as reliable as an NA build if tuned correctly. a good tune will do wonders. also gsr blocks hold up to boost in stock for relativly well in the research i have done on em

just depends on your preference. I like NA but honestly myself had never had a turbo'd set-up

stock gsr puts down around 150whp factory underrated slightly. Even had a buddy pull a crazy 156whp with fresh tranny fluid and 100 niles on a rehone and rering

220 crank horse is easy to hit. Its expensive as well

slap a damn turboi kit on it and tune it really well

easy 250whp for less then 2 grand

Thanks a lot for your fast response.....

I meant 220 crank horsepower, not whp
It`s my daily car, not a serious racer.....

Well, how much money do I want to spend.... Difficult question. I´d say I spend as much as it will need to reach reliabil and well tuned 220 crank horsepower!
This means no peak power, rather a nice bandwidht and quality parts that reach honda-quality!

Thanks a lot
