you should check your vacuum lines for any leaks or damage on the lines. how long has it been since the car got a tune-up? it could be a basic repair so i start with the basic first . a clogged fuel filter maybe.

The Fuel Filter is a possibility. Have a friend turn the key to the on position while you listen for the "click" of the pump. Start simple and look for Bad Plug wires, a worn fuel pump wire, Backprobe the fuel pump connector. should get battery voltage(roughly 12 volts) Check your plugs make sure the electrodes are good. Check your thermostat. Hope this helps.

youll have a better chance of hearing the main relay turn on... or you can loosen the fuel filter line and prime the car to see if theres fuel pressure at the line...
