i picked up a used set of hids off a friend today, they worked fine in his car before taking them out, they worked fine in my car after putting them in, but after driving 15 minutes only the driver side has a blue/white tint and the passenger side looks like a halogen bulb.
my car is 98 civic ex, could i be looking at wiring problems in the car?

 

do they have a halogen high beam?

you may have the 2 wires backwards on the passenger, or drivers side. so you would have one xenon low beam, and one halogen high beam on.

 

i was thinking the same thing but thought i would blow the passenger side fuse if the wires were mixed up ( the car has new pig tails for the headlights due to the previous owner clipping the oem ones for god knows what reason...)
they are a single beam kit, low beams are halogen and highs are hid.

 

you contradicted yourself. if its a single beam kit then you only have the low beam. if its dual then you have an hid low and halogen high, not the other way around..

 

either way i am still having a problem with them

 

well it's hard to figure the problem out if you don't know what you have.. if its a hid/halogen kit then it's possible you have the wires reversed on one side. if that's not the case then its possible the xenon bulb was damaged somehow in the switch. from what i've seen they tend to turn a halogen like peach color before they go out for good. how long it will last like that is anyones guess though.

 

ok before i put the hids in, there were standard halogen bulbs in. i didnt touch any wiring, just plugged them in. Would i experience any problems if the wiring was wrong with halogens? Also i was very careful not to touch the bulb or anything too.
