Default plug wires

I am thinking of putting 10mm plug wires from ACCEL on my 1996 Accord LX, 2.2L. I can get them at a very good price. Will the rest of the stock ignition system handle the change? Thanks

It'll be just fine.

Honda ignitions are already good to start with so you won't be really affecting it at all, especially on your application. I'd even say don't bother with those as they won't really do anything beneficial for you, but if they are cheap, I guess why not?

stay with OEM, there proven to be the best and Accels will do nothing for you power wise

Where is the proof you speak of? I would go with Accel, all they do is ignition parts. Get a digital multimeter and test the Ohms on your old wires then test the Accels. Less resistance means bigger spark and more power. You should swap to an Accel coil too. I wish they made one for the 94-95 F22B1. When I owned an 84' Firebird all I used was Accel. (cap,rotor,wires,super coil) I bet they are made better than OEM. Who makes OEM anyway?

I have a set of OEM (Sumitomo) and a set of 8mm Accel 300+ thundersports here on my bench.

Test results from the #4 wire of each set;
Accel = 0.35kΩ
Sumitomo = 10.25kΩ
Max ignition wire resistance for the F22 is 25kΩ

It is quite obvious that the Accel posts the least resistance.

I ran an Accel CDI Coil w/8mm 300+ thundersport wires and NGK ZF7FIX-11 and loved them. Never put it on a dyno but my MPG went up. Then again, I replaced everything all at once. My MPG probably would have gone up with all OEM parts as well. Maybe not as much though

That being said. On a stock engine I highly doubt that you will see much of a power increase using aftermarket ignition parts over OEM.

OP, To answer your question. The rest of the OEM ignition system will work with the 10mm Accel wires. You probably won't make much use of them though.

First off every little bit helps especially on a 4 cylinder. Second a bigger spark should reduce carbon deposits (via unburned fuel) in your cylinders and on your valves. Oh and third you can get Accel stuff cheaper than OEM. So go for it. Are sure that they are 10mm wires? I thought Accel only made 8mm and 8.8mm.

yes it should just check the gap ratio on your plug.

I have used so many different wires and had so many different problems with them. One I get a lot with so called premium wires is my wires popping up out of the spark plug chamber. The only two that I have never had problems with are Bosch and Honda.
