question about spring rate/length - 95 hatch
question about setup of my car.
95 dx hatch with a b18c.
car is daily driven, but i do run NASA hpde's with it on occasion - vw scirocco is primary track car, and it has 450/400 rates.
i'm currently running Tokico Illumina R coilovers on the car - illumina shocks with tokico's own coilover springs.
the rates and lengths are:
front - 320 in/lb - 9 inches long
rear - 175 in/lb - 8.25
all 2.5 in I/D
the front feels ok as far as rate, but could be a little firmer. the rear however is waaaaay too soft. bouncy and bouncy...
i am thinking 400/400 setup. but i'm open to opinions.
however, what length of spring should i go with? most springs are 12, 10, 8 or 7 inches long. i am thinking 8's front, 7's rear, due to the stiffer rates and less settling of the springs. the 8's in the front will allow me to raise the spring perch in the front a bit. however, the rears could be 8's or 7's, but i don't want to run out of thread at the bottom of the perch.
car is not slammed by any means. about a 2 inch drop all around.
input please. thanks.

If the rear is bouncy now, going up in spring rate will only make it even more under damped.
However, depending on ARB setup, 400/400 sounds like a reasonable base to start fine tuning from on a 95 Civic. That is what I currently have on my 2000 GSR (same suspension design).
7" or 8" is generally fine at either end.

i got 380/380 8 inch gc/koni on my 93 si, haven't tracked it yet but hoping to do HPDE by the end of the year, running stock front sway bar and LS rear 13mm, I like it, pretty neutral
rear is only "bouncy" because the spring rate is so low. not bouncy on the highway, just feels undersprung to me.
any other suggestions?
