What a sad day. Cracked B20 Sleeves
Running 16 PSI for just 5 seconds, the car shut off. Car kept overheating. So I removed the head...and found out that B20 sleeves are NOT strong at all even with proper tuning. The JE's are in perfect condition. Goodbye all, I will one day return back to this forum.
Sorry to hear about that. Maybe that wouldn't have happened if you had a blockguard.. my teg is in the shop right now getting my damaged B18C out, and a B20B bottom installed (with my B18C head). I have lowered compression, a blockguard, running stock pistons/rods - after seeing those pics, I don't think i'll push anything higher than 10psi without a set of pistons/rods and some strong sleeves..
(btw, if there's anything else you want to warn me about, please tell me!)

There is no way a blockguard could've prevented the sleeves from cracking. Yes, JE pistons and Eagle rods. They are in perfect shape. The sleeves aren't
What are some good places to get my B18A sleeved? JG? GE?

i had a b20vtec that lasted me 1 WEEK in an all motor set up! those have to be the weakest sleeves ever made! sorry to hear it man but i know how it feels. i was running JE 12.5:1 with crower rods and i didnt even get 1000 miles out of it. blocks at GE now getting sleeved
Hopefully I not speaking to soon for me but my block is doing fine with 11 psi and it has about 700 miles. But the only reason for me having a b20 is because my b16 cylinder wall cracked.

I know a lot of other people that have cracked the B20 Sleeves. As long as you stay below 12.5 PSI you'll be okay!
Any higher and all the stress will just crack it.

i'm just curious if you called around and what the prices you got were on sleeving. I also have to rebuild my b20 bottom end.
I'm gonna make a few phone calls tomorow to see how much I can get for GE sleeves. Gonna buy a GSR block and get it sleeved and bored to 84mm.

come by my house and look at the block.
maybe we can work something out like $200-400 who knows.

you ran 16psi on stock internals?
if that was deliberate im sorry, but your STUPID.
if it was accidental, ok then. **** happens
but yes the b20 sleeves are crap.

Sorry to hear that man. What octane fuel are you running with 16psi? Also what was your compression at? Are you running any standalone ecu? One of those 3 factors caused this problem. No disrespect but your problem is tuning related. The motor detonated while under boost because of the heat in that cylinder. Looks to me like either that injector in that cylinder that crapped out took a **** or your fuel program is not as good as you thought it was. Flow your injectors now that the motor is out and try to address those issues before the next motor goes in. Give a full run down of all your mods so we can really check your setup for issues( including fuel pressure at idle, timing, octane level, spark plugs, etc). Lastly have you ever dyno tuned it or put a wideband o2 on to dial in your A/F ratio, or is it the old seat of the pants method? It sucks when it happens but the good thing is you have time to correct your errors before the next motor goes in.

we've had good luck with the b20 block so far. my friend runs 116 octane and has boosted to 20 lbs. made 352 hsp on the dyno. drives it @ 11 lbs on pump gas everyday.
sorry to here about that BG.
