I would like to buy a speaking cluster for my crx lol
Is that even possible? To somehow enable some wires and hook it up into the vtec system. Lets say vtec engages at 5k rpms and the darn thing yells "VTEEEEECCCCCC!" or "vtec in position." I know Ive seen some people have the cluster turn into some particular color once vtec engages. Any ideas? I have a couple of clusters and i would love to do this.
i dk why you would ever what to do this, but you can buy electronic kits that allow to record your own msg and play back at the push of a button, just hook the button to the vtec sol wire and you should be good to go.
that was overly simplified, good luck, and prepare for the flames...

I don't understand. If people do not like this idea then why bother leave a comment. I want positive ideas. Also something announcing my temperature will be nice.
The good idea came out years ago, when someone decided to hook a light somewhere to turn on when vtec would activate...for the person who really wants to know when it's on. Having an audible notification would be very annoying after a short period of time....just think about it!!!
hmmmmmm a simply narrating voice saying "vtec engaged" will not bother me since I do not jam my foot on the gas pedal only in certain circumstances revving past 4k. But everyone has their opinion however.
I would also want it for a funny purpose.Lets say I give a former jdm fella a ride and hears my car talking to him.
I still think it's a pretty funny idea. It's meant to get a few laughs, which I would for sure if I went for a ride and you turned that "vtec has engaged" sound from the speakers. Something that you can disable if you wanted.
You could change it up once in a while like a cheasy line from top gun "I feel the need...
...the need for speed!"

this is what you would want:

unsolder the play switch and hook it up through a relay (easiest way to isolate the voltages), although you might need to incorporate a momentary circuit on the relay to make it work right.
then just hook up the output to your head unit aux input or some amplified speaker.

Exactly man thats what I mean. It can be turned off and on.
My cluster chimes when you go over 105kph, i doubt it would be hard for it to play a recorded msg instead of a chime.
I reckon it would be lul.

You could have different messages too, like ringtones. Mr.T saying "I pity the fool who doesn't have vtec.
Or Captain Sean Luke Picard Saying " vtec engage".. OMG LOL Problem is the way I drive it would sound like a broken record.
I personally wouldn't waste my time/money.
