So a buddy has an EP3 and bought a typeS motor. He wants to swap it. I'm assuming this is all plug n play minus the ECU. Mounts and tranny will work although it's only a 5 speed right?

 

you will need to see if his EP is one of the ones that got the unlocked shifting track for the 6th speed t... if not you will need either the BC SS kit or there is a dyi on ephatch but I wouldn't recommend it! Oh and you need to figure out how you want to go about the reverse lockout.

BCSS = Buddy Club Short Shifter, yes.

Reverse lockout? I have a 5spd in my RSX-S, have no issues.

Mounts all work fine.

 

Any axle/driveshaft issues? Wire harness issues? Is the ECU the only other piece I would need to swap?

 

Kpro is what you need.

 

Why the need for kpro? I think this guy wants to keep it entirely stock for the most part. Is there an issue with the immobilizer? Acura should be able to reprogram it right?

 

Since the EP3 uses the PRB IM like the K20A2 engines, everything will swap over and all sensors and plugs will work perfectly fine with the stock harness.

You will need the Kpro to take full advantage of the car and maximize power, and the EP3 map on the ECU CANNOT be flashed to the RSX-S.

No issues with axles or anything like that. But I do suggest that when dropping the motor, drop the subframe too, made it easier for me.

 

So otherwise it would work with an OEM RSXS ECU? Would there be a complication bringing it to Acura to reprogram it to the car?
