Car dies when AC gets turned on.

1997 EJ6.

Car starts up just fine, let it idle for 5 minutes, turn AC on and car turns off. Very strange.

Any suggestions?

how about if you give it 2k rpm and start ac?

check the ac switch input at the ecu.

I will try that 2k RPM AC test in the morning, thank you.

b18- check the AC wire that plugs into the AC?

Sounds like a low idle problem. Any CEL codes?

Turn the key to ON(II) with the engine off. Does the condenser fan run when the A/C button is pushed?
