Default 97 civic ex low fuel light not working

im an ef guy so im new to the newer models. gf just bought a 97 civic ex. body is excellent no rust, orig paint and was a deal at 2200 bucks. well i just had to go take gas to her cause the car died. apparently she was waiting for the low fuel light to come on and it didnt, she ran out of fuel although the fuel guage said E! ugg girls wtf ..lol what controls that fuel light?

also both windows roll up kinda awkward, its like their loose on the regulator and roll up crooked and come out of the weatherstripping. is this common for an ex? seems to happen alot from what i hear

Eg's dont have a low fuel light, im not sure ek's do either. as far as the windows, the exact problem varies from car to car, open it up, usually its a loose or bend guide.

the bulb could be burnt out...

and for the windows going up crooked try putting some dry silicone wax on the tracks where they go up or down.

To fix the window you have to take apart the inner door panel and make sure the window stays on its tracks, you should lube the tracks and make sure everything is good. 96-00 civics seem to have alot of window problems. 92-95 also I think, especially with electric windows.

As for the fuel light, It may have to do with the fuel pump, My friend had the same problem then his fuel pump died, after he replaced it everything was fine. But this also wasn't a civic.

It could also be the bulb.

I know then when my fuel light goes on (99 ex) my fuel gage is right at E.

personally im fine with just a working fuel guage. but i guess since her cavalier had the light she used that to tell her to get gas and when it didnt come on she kept driving and the car died. the guage was right on E.

when the window is rolled down the glass seems to "jump" down real fast then it goes crooked and goes down slow the rest of the way. i think the regulator is worn perhaps, ive tightened everything and the track looks fine

Women... my fuel light is weird, it'll blink once or twice sometimes, but it never really comes on as it should, even when I fill up and it takes about 10.5 (it's only an 11 gallon tank). I would just have her fill it up when the gauge is down to 1/4 or something.

As for the windows, Honda apparently made crappy regulators. I would try taking the panels off, aligning them well getting the bolts tight, and lubing up the tracks. I've had to replace both my regulators, but I have manual windows, I've never dealt with the power ones.

i had alot of problems out of my 98 hx automatic windows. i changed doors out with a dx with manual cranks. haven't had any problems from them. the automatics were junky from the first day i bought the car. especially if it was a moist day out. window would fall off track every time. last the doors were on they wouldn't even roll all the way up. get to liking about 2 inches and just bounce lol. and as for the low fuel light. mine never has worked. i didn't even know they had one lol. but thanks for the info. might try to fix it now that i know where to start.
