I have an 88 crx. I purchased an 88-91 CRX specific front strut bar from an eBay seller (yep, but hey...it's my junker...ha). They sent me a "universal" 1988 through 2000 civic upper front strut bar. It will not fit my D15, due to the PGM-FI intake manifold cover. From what i can tell, it would fit if i had the SI D16 engine installed (or one of the B series engine)...anyone had this issue?

The seller states that my car is modified (they say i added the programmed fuel injection setup to my car), and that's why their bar doesn't fit. My only modification is a cold air intake, but that doesn't stop the installation...the strut bar won't clear the programmed fuel injection plate/cover on the intake manifold.

i figured for 20 bucks, throw one on for a little flash in an otherwise dull engine bay. Whoops.

That are all universal crap. I had the same bar on my stock 89 Dx hatchback. I also had it when i swapped in a 95 d16z6 and mpfi conversion. then transferred it to my 90 dx crx. And now I took it out and Installed a DC Sports strut bar.

All the strut bars sold are for a universal fit. I'm having trouble understanding your "plate" post some pics. The only specific bars are the ones that password jdm sells.

They failed to mention that the strut bar won't clear a dpfi manifold

which would have helped, but i don't blame them for that. i am mad they kept insisting that "since i modified my engine by adding that part, i'm SOL". their communication sucks, even when i sent them pictures to clarify what i was saying. they refused to give me a phone number to call. i gave them mine, but they hide behind emails.

Why don't you source out a real strut bar, one of quality, fitment and actual performance like one from Neuspeed

Sounds like an ebay deal.

So you have a dx crx then. Not an HF.

Here is mine with my old stock b16 manifold.

This strut bar was for a 94-01 LS, but I used 1 mount from my old eBay strut bar and one for the 94-01 LS.

...it's my junker. no quality, fitment, performance required. that neuspeed bar is a 1/4 cost of my car.

is your filter sitting on the heater hoses? that's where mine were, maybe the canadian cars have them go through the firewall in a different spot.

yep, different mounts would work for me, even just 1. if i had any B engine, this would bolt right in.

the eBay seller says, and the ad states this bar fits ALL honda crx models. mines a DX? i should know, but how do you tell? i thought they made the low HF and the better SI models only? the CRX is a new one for me. i've had an EG6, EK, an accord and an integra.

Pretty much for a crx, the black top "dual point" makes it a dpfi set up. The easiest way to tell. The HF and Si have similar set ups, but the HF manifold is puny compared to the si.

The reason I used a mount from a DC and one from a 88-91 civic/crx is that the bar wouldn't reach the mounts if I used matching pairs. It has nothing to do with my car having a b-series motor in it.

right, i understand that. i was just saying, if i had a B18, as my old EG6 had, the strut bar would have mounted up fine. with my CRX, i need a taller mount, to clear the DPFI manifold...which is what i had emailed the seller, except i used the words "the strut bar doesn't clear my air intake manifold", and sent a few pics. to which they replied, "you altered the stock Honda engine, you can't return the strut bar, we have instilled(s) this on 1000 honda crx cars".

the best part, the seller blames me for having a modified engine, but their bar would only fit if i actually HAD swapped out the engine.
