Stock H22A Larger throttle body or ITB?
Hey folks.
So its Saturday and I was bored and I started cleaning up some hoses in my engine bay eliminating the tubes that go to the bottom of the IAC along with the Idle Air control valve and was tempted to buy a nicer looking throttle body, not really in hopes to have retarded high gains like 10hp or something stupid.
did some searching for a throttle body and came across the OBX H22A ITB setup for 600 bucks.. what kind of gains might I see on a stock engine/stock cams. My engine was tuned with Neptune RTP and its on the low end making 170hp 145tq I believe due to my GREEDY! headers which don't flow worth a snot.
I tuned my car myself on a dyno so I'm well familiar with tuning concepts.
So
1# what kind of reasonable gains would I see using this ITB setup?
2# what kind of modification would I really have to do to my tune? "a general idea..."
3# Where do I get vacuum from on an ITB setup for the map sensor? and also brake booster? "Kinda always wanted to know this answer"
I know ITB's really shine with higher duration cams, stage2, 3... this is a idea down the road.
anywho.
Thanks,

I never saw any real gains when I had the H22 ITB setup on an EG hatch back in 05'. they were a bitch to tune on considering you had individual sensors for each TB. The gains weren't noticeable from a circuit racing standpoint. don't know about the drag racing stuff. I say keep it simple with one single reference
im running obx its on my h22 right now
there fitmient is hard
hardware needs replaced
they look good
im making more mid range w the itb's over the euro R im
i made more peak power w the euro R im,,,,useable power is very similar between the two..

well post the numbers I have not seen a whole lot of before / after results going ITB.
The question still exists if there are any tuners that have modified a existing tune for ITB setup what things were done to make it play nice?

i dont have a before and after comparo
the motor was the same but done years apart from each other
but euro R w porting and big tb w a good cai and stack made 237whp
and the obx itb's made 235whp but had better mid-range especially in the
non racing rpm like 3-5k...but they still made more power all the way intell
like 7k then the euro R was better
