power steering???
Just wondering if anyone could briefly fill me in on how to bypass/remove the power steering in my ek. I heard it was a bitch, so I just wanted to confirm/bust that theory! Any takers?
Well you could just remove the belt, if you don't care about doing things right. But it would be hard to steer.
Basically, non-power steering has more turns lock to lock to give the driver a greater mechanical advantage (easier to turn the wheel manually). The power steering has fewer turns, which is nice, but if you disable it, it'll be much harder to turn. So you really need to find a manual rack for a Civic, switch them out and remove your power steering pump. I think that's pretty much all you need to do, but I haven't done it myself, google for a write up on it.

It's definitely not a difficult process. You'd obviously start by removing the PS components and lines from the engine bay, then ideally replace them with a looped setup with a breather/reservoir. The most difficult part is that fact that you have to work in some rather tight spaces on the EK, but it is nothing exceptionally hard to do.
