d16z6 del sol idle problems
just rebuilt my engine and before i rebuilt it my engine idle was fine. Now after i installed the engine the idle is around 1300 to 1600 rpms and it is jumping up and down and i cant find out why it is doing this. What sensor controls this and where is it located. When you are driving slow thru town at low rpms it jumps like it is going to stall out because the idle is going up and down under 2000 rpms. Once u hit high rpms at higher speed it runs just fine any ideas
well come on guys 20 views and no answers ive checkd for vacuum leaks and cant seem to find any does anyone know anything about throttle position sensor could this be my problem where is it located if it is and how about 1995 del sol engine codes do del sols show engine codes
What did you do when you rebuilt it? Idle air comes in through the top of the two holes in front of the throttle plate, runs through the IACV and into the IM. The bottom hole is for fast idle. Surging idle usually means a vacuum leak. The TPS is the black plastic sensor on the firewall side of the TB. It comes set at the factory and shouldn't be messed with. Make sure you don't have any of the sensors on the TB and IM connected wrong. Yes, del sol's show engine codes. If two connectors are switched, like the tps and the map sensor for example, they might both still send a signal and there wouldn't necessarily be a code.
i just bought a rebuild kit re did rod bearings all new gaskets oil pump timiing belt sent crank off to get reconditiond and thats it but ive checkd and had my under the table mechanic check for vacuum leaks and neither one of us can find one ill check to see about the sensors bein plugd in backwards what exactly is the TB and IM lol im takn IM is intake manifold i dont but yeah ill check them out and try switchn them around and ill post what i come up with
Sorry the TB is the Throttle Body and the IM is indeed the intake manifold. Don't quote me on this but i believe the only switchable sensors around the intake are the MAP & TPS sensors, and the Intake Air Temp (IAT) & Knock sensors. There should be a flathead screw on the top of the TB that is used to adjust idle air. Screwing it in can help your idle when there's a leak somewhere. Keep in mind that a vacuum leak can be as simple as the idle screw being out too far or the throttle plate propped open too far. Of course, neither of those particular problems happen on their own.
well my idler air controller sensor wasnt plugg in right on of the wires fell out but now its plugged in and the car is idling up and down from 1200 to 3000 is this sensor bad how can you tell and someone said somthing about cleaning some certain sensors what do you clean them with and what sensors also what are CELL codes how do you find out what they are
