Default Insurance for Track Car

I just picked up a 97 GSR for autocross and HPDE events. I picked up a liability policy for it for $30 per month. I rarely ever drive it though and wonder if there is something cheaper available? Just need something that will cover it on the trips to and from events.

You can compare prices among insurance companies on websites like Insweb.com and Insure.com

Does your current company even allow you to track the car and cover it??
You might be in for a surprise when you get dropped for tracking it.
The cheapest insurance alternative is called...
Wait for it...
Truck and trailer!
Then you dont have to spend 30 bux a month.
You have the second payment going towards that.....

Yes, I'm friends with the agent and he knows about it. It's liability only coverage so I'm not getting compensated no matter how I wreck it.

Obviously if I'm complaining about $30/month then a another vehicle is out of my range. Worst case scenario, I'll insure it over the summer, the take it off in the winter. No big deal, just wanted to see what anyone else was doing.

Not cool. Somebody not only answers your thread but also moves it to the correct forum so you will get appropriate answers and this is how you respond to them?

Why would this be obvious? If you are going to auto-x's and HPDE's, then it would be much less of an assumption that you could afford an additional vehicle. I am sure more people will chime in with their experiences and opinions. Please try to be more open minded about what they are telling you. There are a lot and I mean a lot of experienced guys in this forum.

Brian.

There are alot of racers here... Insurance has been covered here before you just have to search for it.

Most of the full time racers or those who have the means to trailer their cars do so.
By the means Im talking about a tow vehicle, trailer, and a place to store it.
If your not that lucky you have your alternative.
Make sure you cover your bases before.

I wasn't sure about where it belonged, thinking first it might go to one of the other forums because it's asking about street coverage rather than track coverage, then changed my mind because it was a track car so I moved it back again, all of about 30 seconds later. There were no negative comments or infractions issued, I was just trying to put it where it seemed it would get the best answers.

$30 a month??? No offence dude. But if you are bitching about that. Stay home. God only knows how cheap you went on the rest of the car.

We've insured our track car with WSIB Insurance (www.WSIBInsurance.com) the past 3-4 years. Great service and fortunately no claims.

That's coverage for on-track claims, similar to what Lockton Affinity offers. However, the OP is looking for insurance for street use, on the way to and from the track. Perhaps you only read the title of this topic, and didn't bother reading the first post?
