Need Help finding a battery tie down for a Optima yellow top in a 2000 civic
The title kinda says it. the yellow top battery is a little to big for the battery tray but it fits kinda snug in there so I never bothered with the tie down... Now i need one to pass safety. Any one know how i can accomplish this. I was hopping to find an aftermarket one that can do this so it is easy, I don't really want to have to fabricate if it is not necessary.
Not sure how the bat mounts up in the newer models, but in my '91 hatch, i simply bought a pair of longer threaded rods with the hook ends at Autozone and called it a day.
Any parts store can help you - Pep Boys, Autozone, CSK, ORielly......
I put a 1000a Optima red in the hatch.
No big deal.

Just keep an eye on the cheapy battery mounts, I just got done removing a crap load of rust from one on my friends car. The bottom portion of the hook part had started to rust and the rust dripped down onto the body and spread, luckily he caught it in time.
Password jdm offers a replacement battery tie down kit that accomodates for slightly larger batteries. I just got one myself a few weeks ago and love the fit\quality
Optima and similar SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) type batteries don't leak and hence don't corrode under normal circumstances.
