Pioneer DEH-P980BT problem! ran out of help!
Hopefully someone here can answer my question. I've been searching aimlessly and I'm totally clueless on what to do now. I have a DEH-P980BT deck from Pioneer that stopped working yesterday. I was listening to music in my car before going to class and everything was working fine. Right when I came back from class about 2 hours later, the deck faceplace stopped lighting up. When I turn the car on and off, the headunit still beeps and the faceplace moves to the detach position like normal. When I turned the car on when the faceplace was in the detach position, it displays Pioneer with colors, so the faceplate isn't the problem. I removed the headunit and checked the wiring harness fuse and car fuses and everything was fine. After reconnecting, it doesn't even seem like it has power at all. I used a different headunit and that worked fine. Anybody have any idea as I am totally lost. Any help/suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ditto the above^^^ or return it as defective.
If you connected anothe HU and it worked, then you know how to wire a HU, both 12V constant and 12V acc. are working, the problem is the HU. 94

Before you send it back. Try to reset the microproccesor. Detach the face and use a pin to poke in the button. Hold it down for 15 seconds. The unit should work then. If not return it. I seen many problems with the newer pioneers doing this. Your suppose to do this when you power up the radio for the first time.
have you detached the faceplate since this happened? if not do that and while its off look at the connectors on both the faceplate and the deck. check to see if any prongs look like they may be damaged at all. if they look good then put the faceplate back on and try it again. i've had stereos do really really strange things and just reattaching the faceplate fixed it.
the above is also a very good idea too.
