99 SH Clutch/Tranny Problem
Hey everyone,
I know this problem must have come up in this forum at some point but I haven't been able to find a thread that addresses it specifically, so here it goes (and apologies if it has been covered).
For the last month or so I've noticed my clutch peddle getting progessively lighter. I had assumed that the clutch had become out of adjustment, so I readjusted it and things seemingly were normal again. However, I noticed that even after tightening the clutch, it has become really light once again, and I'm now at the point where the engagement is literally a mm off of the floor; I have no more slack on the adjustment rod and the car is really hard to get into gear while running.
I haven't spotted any leaks and the power steering/hydraulic reservoir has remained full the entire time (no adding). In addition, I don't detect any immediate leakage coming from the slave or master cylinder (no spots underneath the car and no excessive liquid near the clutch pedal). Would it be reasonable to assume that the throwout bearing has become toast?
Not sure if it's related but I also hear a very loud mechanical whurrrring noise whenever the car is under load (not during deceleration) and also when the clutch pedal is released at idle. When under load, the whurring noise increases/decreases with rpms. I had always figured this was coming from the ATTS unit since the unit has over 183k on it, but I'm not certain.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I will be moving in a couple of weeks and this car NEEDS to move with me in it. Thanks errbody

Any thoughts on the whurring noise? Do throwout bearings make any kind of noise when they're going out or do they just go...out? Thanks man.
Alright, so I've bled the clutch line and the pedal isn't regaining any of it's resistance (it just continues to sit on the floor). I'm guessing this is indicative of a dead master cylinder? Thanks everyone.
