Default y8 tranny on a d15b1 block ??

i have a d15b1 (dpfi) with a 4-speed tranny.
i'm gonna do a mini me with a d16y8 head and intake.
just wondering if the y8's 5-speed tranny will work too.

It should, but from what I read the CRX/Civic Si 5 speed is geared better for performance.

thats if your running a hydraulic clutch setup already but if your running a cable setup than no it will be a waste of time

yeah, im pretty sure my 4-speed is cable.
what 5-speed tranny's will work for my car? will any EF si tranny work? i heard certain years have different number of teeth. what's the deal with that?

What year car do you have? I think the issue is with using the 88 trans on later years (won't work due to what you said). I believe I read that in Honda Engine Swaps written by Aaron Bonk.

your hubs have less splines than regular ones

The wheel hubs only effect the choice of axles. All the axles (88-91) have the same "male" side going into the tranny.

If you fail to understand this, you can use any 89-91 Civic 5 speed tranny you like.

There's another difference with 88 transmissions but that's another topic in itself.

to answer your question o/p you can use any non rt4wd cable trans from 89-91
