Default Can't remove tranaxle after all bolts removed, what now?

I have a 96 civic hx 5 speed. I am in the process of removing the transaxle to replace the rear main seal. I have everything disconnected and cannot for the life of me remove the housing. it is about 1 inch separated from the engine but hung up. Does the input shaft get hung up this bad??

Any input is appreciated.

Jeff

On a front wheel drive, it's technically called a transaxle. It even calls it that in the manual. Most people just call it a transmission.

x2 check the dust plate.

They can be a little tough to separate. I remember having to go around it with a prybar the last time I had mine off.

+1 for the dust plate! After fighting with mine for 10 minutes it was the ultimate DUH moment.

on all fwd vehicles "transmissions" are actually transaxles, and by all means should be referred to as such. even i sometimes call them transmissions for sake of people understanding me but all in all its wrong terminology to call them transmissions.

It was the dust plate!. I didn't think it required removing to remove the transaxle. Thanks for the tip. It was even more of a PITA to put it back on!
