5th Gen Winter beater - The Prelude no one wanted
Some toolbag T-Boned my old winter car (4dr ef) while it was parked on a parking pad at my apt, so I needed a new car.
Found this gem, every single panel on the car has a dent or scrape or bump or rust or all of the above.
The guy wanted $2700 but I ended up getting it for $2200
Lifted the hood and was happily surprised to find a JDM H22A that was installed in 08 by a mechanic shop.
I even have the receipt for the work, total for the motor, parts and labor was $4500 CAD
Only 2 years ago.
It's a 1997 Canadian base model
Originally red, was resprayed black.
155k miles (250k kms)
The bad stuff, besides what was already mentioned:
Drivers side rear wheel bearing is totally finished
Second gear syncro is really bad, I don't even use the gear it's so bad.
The good thing about the motor getting installed by a shop is it has a new:
timing belt
refilled a/c
new water pump
new clutch
resurfaced flywheel
etc etc
I'm going to try to save it slowly/gradually.
This weekend will be a new hub/bearing assy and new studs, along with new pads and rotors on all four.
Then I will move into the interior and do a full shampoo and detail every bit of it.
Finally a good car wash and remove all the wheels and clean the inner and outer area as good as I can, and reinstall with new lugs.
Be easy on me being that I just got this car.
It came with altezza tail lights and I made a run to the bone yard the next day and replaced the tails with factory ones.
I know nothing about 5th gen's so if you spot something odd or cool or weird, let me know and leave a comment, if you want to bitch at me to fix it, post up and give me your crits and tell me what to do first.

Not a bad pic up.
Just swap the front wheels as they are facing the wrong direction.
Also noticed that motor did come from a RT hand drive car. It has the holders for the throttle cable still on it.

I think the service light in the cluster is red,
is there a way to reset this?
It doesn't seem to be shining bright red, but it does have a red box.
Edit, nm I found out you can reset it by putting the key in a slot...

Very good pick up.... Step one: CLEAN the bitch, Step two: new OEM floor mats, Step three: swap in a type s LSD tranny (this step is a must), Step four: repaint stock color. Of course all this is after fixing the immediate problems. Again very good pick up
Once it has been reset with a key so it's green
in 7500 miles (Honda's recommended oil change interval) it changes to amber (orange)
and if not reset then it will change to red at 10,000mi
Why "MUST" he replace the tranny? Why repaint it either? Its just his winter beater. That being said, I would just get some good rubber all weather floor mats and call it a day.
