Well I'm not ready for Rcomps yet, so that leaves me with very few extreme performance street tires that I can get a matching set of. This is for my ITR that is not very low at all 12K springs up front 10K rear. Any help appreciated.
Here are my choices for my 15x8 front and 15x7 rear
-Hankook RS3 225-45-15 all around (unfortunately they dont make a narrower 15" size for the rear rim) Obviously this is not the optimal size for this particular rim, but do you think it will be okay for HPDE?
-RE11 205-50-15 all around (unfortunately there is no wider size to fit up front) By now you are probably realizing the issue I am having.
-Toyo R1R 225-45-15 up front and 205-50-15 rear. Now this is the closest matching set I can get that will be optimum for each rim. Now unfortunately I have read some reviews saying these aren't great at all for HPDE on a heavier car 2500 lbs-ish
So my question is while I am still using street tires, would I be better off just running a 205-50-15 until I am ready for Rcomps (in which case I would have a huge selection of tires) or would the 225 set be better even though it would be on a skinny rim in the rear?

Yes. And if you want, you can mount them on your stock 15x6 rims. (That's what I am doing with the R comps on my ITR, and they work just fine.) No need for a staggered fitment.

I have 195-55-15 Z1 Star Spec on my stock rims and I do like them, but turn in is as light and quick as I would like.
I also have a set of ATS Comp Lites. Perhaps I will give RE11 a try on that set of rims and wear them out before buying Rcomps for the volks.

Basically, if you're looking for snappy turn in, you need to go to something like a Nitto NT01 (great tire btw). Those are going to get you probably 4 to 5 weekends if rotated properly. The street tires will get you probably 10 or so track weekends, depending on how hard you're driving and how much you drive them on the street.
