disappointed by local honda dealership
well I go my local honda dealership to get an oil filter. Its acutally a honda/nissan dealer ship.
The guy asked what type of car I had. Told him an Acura Integra. So he gets out his books and starts looking through them. He is looking under honda, he see's civic, accord, prelude, ect. I tell him agian its an Acura. Then he grabs another book and flips to the Nissan section. I then tell him its not a nissan, I try and explain to him the Honda makes acura. This takes a while to get through his head. I almost grabed the damn book from him and looked it up myself. Finally he grabs a different book and looks under acura.
After about 20 minutes of the guy looking I finally got the right oil filter. Paid $8 for the damn thing too. Fram's are like $3.
Shows what unintelligent people are who work at dealerships. This was the parts section too. WOW!

i think for the most part around where i live, Honda dealerships wont sell you Acura parts even though theyre the same damn thing. heh i wouldnt have been so suprised if that happened to me. some ppl are morons, just a fact of life.
That's funny... when I get oil filter from Honda/Acura dealers, I just tell them "I need an oil filter." and they will automatically know it is not a Passport, S2000 or Hybrid.
almost all late model hondas (since like 1988) have shared the same filters.....except a very few. Things are getting more diverse now though.

If it makes you feel better, I was just getting a 02 civic for my g/f. 4 of 5 dealerships salesmen did not know what year the new re-designed civics came out.

i hope you got some free o-rings, too?
also, the parts people are just employees. many times, they know nothing of the part they are selling, and rely on an exploded diagram to track down a parts number.
i was at the honda dealership, asking them what size were the nuts that went on top of the CIVIC SI chassis brace (strut bar, but not quite since it doesn't go over the strut bolts), and when I showed them my integra, they swore that my car was different, even though the GSR and CIVIC SI share the exact same "strut bar." But they finally conceeded defeat when I walked over to a used CIVIC SI and popped the hood to show them...

just get a k&n ...there 10 bucks ..but i haven't had any problems..
I don't even go to the dealer unless they send those dealer/parts counter coupons for the filters for around $4... I usually just get Mobil 1 ($10), Purolator Pure One ($6), Bosch ($5) or STP ($3)... the filter application guide is in the isles and I just look it up myself and find the filter myself...
always check INSIDE to see that the filter inside matches whats on the box... I had an experience where some jack a$$ swapped a $3 filter into the $12 mobil 1 filter box (they put the mobil 1 filter in the cheap filter box and paid $3 for the mobil 1 filter I guess)... luckily the parts counter/returns guy at Autozone was cool about me exchanging the cheap filter (my receipt proved I paid for a Mobil 1) for a Mobil 1 filter...
