90 CRX Si - EF Strut Camparisons
Howdy,
I'm going to the junkyard to find some temporary "Front and Rear" struts I can throw on my 90 Honda CRX Si (Has H&R sport lowering springs) until I get my Tokico Hp Blues back from a Tokico Warranty Claim.
I was wondering. This is the info I heard.
Si struts are more stronger than the other models. Also, I can only use CRX Struts because the 90-91 EF Civic has different struts setup.
Basically, I'm wondering if those statements are true. Also, I'm wondering, if someone knows if I can take struts from another EF or any other model and for sure 100% as they done it before. I don't want to pull struts off a car if someone doesn't know 100% sure they don't fit a CRX. Only 100% sure answers to this last question pls.
Any help is gladly appreciated

im pretty sure they are all the same regardless of trim or year. except RT4WD rear struts wont fit. if theyre just temporary, then why must they be stiffer? any should work just so you can drive it
I could buy the stock springs also, but I'm just going cheap and buying struts only. So basically all I have is H&r sport springs to ride on.
I'm thinking about getting the stock springs, but it will need a serious alignment. It is aligned for the drop. At least if I keep the springs it would be semi close to alignment.
I don't have the money to get it aligned at this time, even though I just bought brand new tires =/.
If I go to the junkyard and they don't have CRX's, what other car can I strip off of. That's why I asked. Froma friend I heard EF Civic is not the same struts.
Any verification or valid suggestions?

According to buying tokico struts. Their application states that EF8/9 89-91 Civic and CRX's use the same strut model numbers.
So basically I can scavenge off a ef civic too?
This does not necessarily mean the EF civic and CRX hf/dx/si etc have the same "stock" struts, but any valid response would help verify this.

This is exactly why I try to hold on to the stock parts I replace.

you can use them from any EF (civic/crx) model. just as long as you take note of the 88 rear suspension.
comparing and trying to find the "strongest" shock is useless on a used shock 20 years old.

Man, if you guys read at the top, I have a full set of Tokico HP Blues. But they are at tokico manufacturer in kentucky being processed and warrantied. Its been 2 months already and they're saying they need to "back-order" them. So I'm pissed off, and tired of spending $10's in gas everyday in a v8 gas guzzling truck, only a round-trip from home to work, and vice versa. My work isn't very far!
If I want to go out and have a good time, then its $20's a day.
With $10's in my CRX even with a jdm b16a, that will last me 2-3 days. I'll be saving more gas in the long run than spending on that damn truck.
I need my car back, I don't use condom when I bang my car in the tail pipe.
**** V8's for now. My motto for inline 4's "Saves gas, and just as fast".
Well, I scavenged the front and rear struts from a 1990 Honda Civic 4 door. I hope the front and rears are compatible.

Just for verification for those who need to be 100% sure as well.
Seems all EF's are in fact compatible with struts. Don't know if there are actual size differences, but it fit nicely as if it were for a CRX.
Same stuff as everyone said.
Thanks ya'll
