Interior Door Panels Accord Coupe
Has anyone reinforced the flimsy armrests on 94' Accord coupe door panels. I am considering screwing a wooden box to the door to give support and maybe use some spray foam to fill any gaps. I would put cling wrap on the wood so the foam only sticks to the panel. Any other ideas would be appreciated. What was Honda thinking? Why didn't they make these stronger by adding ribs and thicker plastic?
Thanks for the tips. I thought about fiberglass but have never used it. I realize I have to reinforce the panel and not build something to support it. I'm not sure about plastic and epoxy. What kind of plastic? Where to get it? Then shaping it.
I have fiberglassed the armrests of my door panels. When i was re-upholstering my interior i noticed all of the plastic has cracked behind the armests of the doors. I fiberglassed the whole thing on the rear of the armrests and now it is one solid piece. Trust me that is all you will need and its easy too.
hotaccord do you have any tips or any possible problems that I might have. I have never used fiberglass. I don't know exactly what to buy or where to buy it.
I just bought Bondo fiberglass resin and fiberglass cloth. I plan to cut the cloth to fit in one piece. Is cloth better than mat for this job? Will one layer be enough? Do I need to prep the panel?
