Icon2 90 Civic won't start

Okay so my buddy get a new car a 90 Civic wagon with a D16Z6 swap and it's turbo, cast manifold, garrett turbo, precision 750cc injectors, 3-bar MAP sensor, etc. It's been running on 15 and 18psi of boost.

We drove it like 3 hours from home, the guy says that the alternator is bad, and that it surges sometimes or whatever, sometimes when you let off the gas the car would die.

One time on the way home, it didn't start back up, it threw a "Electrical Load Detector" Check Engine Light, we disconnected the battery for a few minutes, and it started back up fine.

Now it has done this again and won't start back up no matter what we do. We reset the ECU, did the battery, nothing seems to work.

We checked for spark and it's not getting spark! We took the distributor cap off and it looked like one of the tiny plugs on the bottom was burned, but it's just the little rubber cover, the connections wwere fine. But inside the distributor smelled like something burning, not really sure whats up. Spark plugs look good still, they are NGK plugs for Integra typeR (colder I guess)

What do you guys think????

Distributor? Or could the electrical system be messed up and it's not getting enough power to create spark? We're all so lost... Just bought the car yesterday and it's already dead.

Try getting a loaner distributor to and see if that fixes, if it does, there you go.

If it's OBD-0, sounds like the ignitor in the distributor. If it's OBD-1, could be the ignitor or coil, but most likely the ignitor (doesn't go bad as often as the OBD-0 ignitors).
yeah its converted to obd1
