Creating this thread more as a way to keep me motivated & keep tabs on progress so I stay on track.
My $700 find, a 1989 crx DX with 160k miles.

The day I brought it home.





Put new wheels on the car & lowered it. The one's that came with were jacked up.

Found out the "coils" that came on the car were 4 different knock-off brands & they were all put on upside down so, bought some old aerospeeds from a buddy & slapped them on there until I can get some legit ones.



bought all amber corner & bumper lights.


got a bunch of interior since it was gutted & the front carpet reeked. still have yet to get it all in the car.



how it sat after lowering. Have since acquired all the body moulding.

found out the t-bar support was warped the hard way.





got it fixed that next payday.


Stripped a friend's wrecked crx for parts & decided to go with a 90-91 front end because of it. Got a new hood & driver's side fender.


And that's all there is to it now.

Plans:
cleaning up & getting all the little dents out is the main priority.
mini-me swap. getting the hook up on two potential motors just have to decide which one I want to rock.
new wheels. 14-15"
better suspension.
exhaust.
paint.

This is all going to be a learning experience for me. This crx is my first Honda and pretty much my first real build! :D

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm really loving this little car, only owned it for 2 months & I can see it becoming a car I can't live without.

Learned the reason why my car reeked was because someone vomited all over the passenger side seat and carpet & the PO didn't do a very good job cleaning it so:

nice. i liked the clear corners better personally but other than that look good.

 

the all ambers fit with the color I eventually plan on painting the car. (:

I only have time to for the car during the weekends.

Kind of at a stand still though. Trying to raise money to buy another car so I can have a DD while the crx is being torn apart further.

 

looks like your on a good start. what color are you going to paint it? you might want to check out the paint and body threads. it has everything from 50$ rattle can paint jobs to $3,000 candy paint jobs too.

oh, and did you drink all that mountain dew? sheez

I have all the parts to make it a complete car. Just not the array of tools or time I'd like.

 

Yeah I had all the parts I needed from my wrecked hatch(engine,suspension,interior etc) to put together my new hatch.It's just time consuming.

Especially since the only place I have to work on it is a gravel driveway & I have to borrow jacks haha.

 

LOL its all good,I don't have my own garage.So I have to use my moms,but I have tools.I got like 3 pairs of jackstands for some reason that I forgot.

Got the passenger side molding all put on and si door cards.
No after pics, its way too dark now lol.

Nice..good luck on your build, get that daily so you can put the crx aside and make it perfect... sucks having to rush your project car just so you can go to work the next day ha. Have you thaught about doing a turbo d16a6? I used to have one..a lot of fun, I loved not having to down shift when I needed some instant power. Idiot me sold it to build my integra, which is great..but I want my turbo crx back too :/

 

My boyfriend is turbo'ING his d16z6, that's his black crx in the background.
I'm looking more for NA myself, less parts to worry about breaking hahaha.
