what's up honda tech i've been browsing the forums for a while but just made an account...i was hoping to get some pictures of the two sets of oem keys and oem key fobs (for those who had keyless entry installed from the factory)...and i'm not talking about the JDM key so don't post pictures of those...thanks

My spare says ACURA in red.

 

i'm guessing you bought your R from an owner who probably bought that JDM key because he probably lost the factory one and i had a feeling that was the OEM key fob but wasn't 100% sure...can anyone else verify?

No, my key is original. It's beat to **** and faded, but original.

 

The gray key with the round head, pictured above, was the factory key that came with the '97-98 USIM ITR. The 2001 (and, I believe, the 2000) ITR came with the immobilizer feature, and that key won't work with it; instead the OEM key for the later year(s) has the same black squarish head as other Acura models.

The key fob for the OEM remote entry looks like the one shown above for all ITR years.

 

Yeah, I don't think your car would come with a key that hasn't been cut yet.

 

I'm about 6500-7000 miles from my car. LOL. And I've never had to take pics of my keys.

if so, i was wondering if the acura logo was white for the type r or was it a red acura logo? i appreciate it

 

they key should be read i believe. mine is and i have a 2000 ITR. never seen the white before.

on a side note, are those 97-98 gray ITR keys hard to get? ive had one of these uncut keys just sitting in my cup holder for years now...but as we all know now, i cant use it on my car (wasnt planning on it either)

 

i wouldn't say they're hard to get...you can find more than a couple places that are selling them online the only thing is that they're pricey...usually around $50 bucks...i think it's a cool key though

 

I have a 00 GSR and my key has a red acura logo, came with two of them... So I dont think red is an R exclusive

 

I bought my 2001 ITR new, and the key it came with has a white logo, nothing on it is red.

Same goes for my ITR keys as nsxtasy, and mine is an '01

 

My key is the same as the red one but has Py filled in the Acura symbol.
