MPG Tips Thread
I did a search for it on here and only came up with like 7-8 vague threads, but I'm really interested in finding out what people here have come up with for improving MPG. I am sure we are all pretty solid on the basics like reducing weight, keeping everything clean and replacing worn out parts. I'm interested in seeing what specifics there are for the ef and crx. Are there more efficient intakes, heads, cams, not flooring it light to light, etc. you get the idea. I'm new to the game, and I know I might get made fun of in a hp frisky forum and that's fine ha ha, but just interested in seeing what people have come across to keep their power packed builds affordable at the same time, when it comes to making trips to the pump
. Just list what you are running, and where you have noticed a substantial increase. I'll start with whatever basic stuff I have done and noticed differences with...

When I bought the car I was getting around 28 mpg on the highway! It was terrible and I don't know what the guy before me did to it ha ha!
-Switched from regular to full synthetic oil, higher grade spark plugs, new wires, gave me about 4-5mpg gain!
-Ran Seafoam cleaner through tank and intake, gave me another almost 2-3mpg gain.
-Went from 2000 Civic Si Rims (I think weigh about 20-25lbs??) to Axis rims weighing in at about 11lbs, and on highway then noticed I was pushing almost 38-40mpg on a flat run with minimal breeze.
For me the biggest gains came from a decent tuneup with synthetic oil, and from reducing about 40-50lbs with better tires.
Hopefully this can be a useful thread to help some of us hold on to money for that next golden addition to our builds
Thanks!
